Tulum! Oh my. We were lucky enough to travel to Tulum for the first time over Valentine’s Day weekend for my beautiful cousin’s wedding. Annnddd I absolutely loved it. It was so different than anywhere I’ve been in Mexico – so unique, a little rustic, colorful, and so laid back. It was a magical escape from this harsh winter. We stayed at Zamas Hotel and my siblings and I shared the “family suite” hut which was so much fun. Our hut faced the jungle of palm trees [just a minute walk to the water] while the single huts are right on the beach, facing the Ocean. This hotel was so different than anywhere I’ve ever stayed and I loved the change of pace. The restaurant here…incredible! The food was so, so fresh. I had huevos rancheros with a banana smoothie each morning and I would do it again.
The wedding was held at El Pez, just a short walk down the beach, which was absolutely beautiful. The hotel only has 12 rooms [and ours had 20 maybe] so it was all wedding related family and friends which was really fun. The food here was also insanely good! I really don’t think you can find bad food in Tulum. More on the wedding to come in Part 2!
So I’m going to share a lot of pictures for two reasons: 1. I’m cold. We’re having another snowstorm. These pictures make me feel happy. 2. With our life change [i.e. not living in Europe anymore] I’m missing all of the adventure related posts – for example, last February we went to Paris, Lake Como, Florence, and Pisa….sigghhhh. So hopefully these photos make you want to get on a plane and go to Tulum…because you really should. Especially since it’s miserably cold in the Northeast!
