Last weekend we went on a day trip to Block Island, RI – a little island [9.73 square miles] off the coast. We took the high-speed ferry from New London which was just over an hour. Once we arrived, our first stop was to rent a moped. Yes, that’s right..the number one item on my bucket list, Drive a Moped, was crossed off the list! And it was awesome. If I live in a city again my first purchase will be a moped. See ya, Car! Ok, maybe I should keep the car for the winter months but it would be too much fun to scoot around on a moped when the weather cooperates. We rented it for two hours from Island Moped [close to the Ferry terminal, rents bicycles and mopeds] which was a great amount of time to get around the island. Our first stop was the Mohegan Bluffs which were incredible! Really impressive. We went all the way down the skinny stairs to get even better views. We then rode all the way up to the Northern point where there is another beautiful lighthouse. I loved seeing the island this way versus on bike or walking. It didn’t hurt that the weather was perfect and warm – ideal moped weather. If you’re close, I would absolutely recommend taking the day to visit Block Island. The New London Ferry shuts down in a few weeks but the ferry from Point Judith, RI runs year round. Such a beautiful and unique place!
